With all the misinformation and random facts being thrown around, it’s hard to know what is really happening in Iran, and the true impact it is having. People say things due to fear and lack of knowledge, so here is what’s going on and how it will affect the people globally.
President Trump stated in a press conference that the war was expected to last around a month or a little longer, but the U.S. has the capacity to go longer than that. Since the bombing began it has already started to affect supply chains. This has an impact on oil, gas, and even fertilizer. Shipping boats have changed their route to a crucial route because of the bombing. In Iran, it was reported that around 1,000 people have died in the country with the bombing hitting schools and hospitals. Israel reported about 40 deaths by Iran since March 4th with some buildings taking damage. Azerbaijan as of March 4th stated that drone attacks have impacted an airport and injured 2 civilians. Bahrain reported that drone attacks from Iran targeted data centers and even a U.S. naval base. Cyprus, as of March 2nd, stated that a British air space was hit, but the area did not face detrimental damage since there were no casualties. The capital of Saudi Arabia was attacked, then following that, one of their largest domestic refineries was unsuccessfully targeted by drone attacks. The Secretary of State for Consular Affairs urged American citizens to evacuate the Middle East with the reasoning for this being “serious safety concerns”. Due to the bombings and conflict between countries, it has had a large effect on the air space, forcing people to be stuck in a dangerous situation. Airlines were forced to cancel around 40,000 flights, making it the largest disruption since COVID-19. Since flights have slowly begun to reopen, the prices for those flights are extremely expensive making it even harder for people to make it home. Countries have slowed down and/or stopped production of metals due to the inability of shipping them across waters. War does not just affect the leaders of the country participating in them, but rather the innocent citizens who lose their lives daily whether it’s fighting for their country or it’s living their day to day life when they encounter a random bombing.
