Cool Christmas Robot Outside of the Robotics Room

Project C (Pepper)
Cool+Christmas+Robot+Outside+of+the+Robotics+Room

On December 20 through December 22, a waving robot appeared in the doorway of the Robotics classroom. It worked as follows, someone would step on the ̈x¨. The robot would turn their head as if they were looking for you, and then would waive their right arm. If you would like to see it, here is a link to a YouTube Short. The robot was created and designed by me, Eric O.  There was help from some of my Robotics classmates; Sophia S. made the arms, and Gloriana A. helped decorate the robot.  There was also help from my Robotics teacher, Ms. Cote. The robot was made with Lego Ev3 pieces, and took three days to complete. Project C, or Pepper, was created to one, show some holiday spirit, two, become like an unofficial Robotics mascot, but most importantly, spark interest in the Robotics class. It is a sad truth that the Robotics class is becoming less and less popular, with only one Robotics class meeting. My hope was to bring interest back into Robotics by showing students something they could make. I also hope that the future Robotics students will take care of Pepper, however I will not say how to make Pepper because I want the students to come up with their own ideas of how to bring Pepper to life. Also, if you want to see another robot I have been working on here is a link to watch a YouTube Shorts of Marshall, who was made with Lego Spike. I am also happy to give details on something new, Pepper´s Project V. Pepper will be outside the Robotics class door from February 9 through February 14, along with a new face design!
