Maddy Willis takes a goal kick in Wednesday’s game against ORR

The girls soccer team faced Old Rochester Regional High school Wednesday. The lady Raiders had a tough match between the lady Bulldogs aggressive defense and fast offense. In the first half the lady Bulldogs had scored a quick goal in the back of the net but that was no match for Kenzie Pieres who dribbled down the sideline and fired a shot in the back to the net to tie the game. Julia Costa, Maddie Sterne, and Sam Souza held the defensive line making it difficult for the lady Bulldogs to penetrate the goal box. The fast lady Bulldogs midfielder snuck past the lady Raiders defense and sent another ball in the back of the net. The lady Raiders fought hard to tie the game up before half time. Emily Fernandes worked the ball in the middle of the field sending perfect through ball passes to the strikers, but the ORR defense was not making it easy.  The lady Raiders fought on the attacking half of the field and won a corner kick. The kick was taken by Lauren Roosa who sent a beautiful ball into the penalty box where Julianna Nassif headed the ball into the back of the net to tie the game 2-2 right before the half time whistle. The lady Raiders came out ready in the second half ready to pull away a win in this game. Lauren Roosa sent a blasting high ball towards the goal and sent it right over the goalies head into the back of the net to give the lady Raiders the lead. The lady Raiders defense put up a tough fight against the quick ORR offense, but fell to the midfield players and ultimately let up a goal leaving the game tied 3-3. The lady Raiders were determined to win this high scoring, intense game and worked the ball up the middle and to the wing players Kenzie Pires and Sadee Arruda but the lady Bulldogs defense was not going down without a fight. Ary Secia sent a ball down the middle of the field where Layla Venancio followed the ball into the penalty box and sent a low ball past the goalie and into the back of the net giving the lady Raiders the final win 4-3 against the lady Bulldogs, making their record 3-2. The lady Raiders play at Bourne High school Monday. Good luck Raiders!
