Two-For Blue: SBRHS Repeats as D1 Champs

Somerset-Berkley captured their second consecutive Division 1 title Saturday to complete a perfect season.

Just like that, the Raiders yet again made history. This Saturday, the field hockey team completed their quest for protection with the 4-1 victory over the Long Meadow Lancers. The game was ultra physical, but the Raiders offense was way too much for the Lancers to handle and that proved the difference.

The fact a team that faces so much scrutiny was able to go undefeated and win another title is truly remarkable. Undoubtedly, the ones who face the most criticism are the two boys: Lucas Crook and Alex Millar. Recently the hate directed towards them had reached a fever pitch, thanks to the two taking the brunt of the scoring load during the playoff run. And yet, through it all, they just never let it get to them.

Always a very quiet kid, Lucas spoke out on the criticism and victory by saying “The haters out there should feel very proud of themselves knowing that they were one of the factors as to why we’re so successful. Although they thought by belittling the boys about playing it, only made us fuel our fire, and want to continue to win each game even more”.
