Holiday 7Q Slam: Ms. Copeland

Ava Casey, Contributor

  1. What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

I absolutely love decorating my house (both inside and outside) with lights; I wouldn’t say I’m a Clark Griswold, but I like some flash. I also love driving around to check out other people’s lights.

  1. What is your traditional meal on Christmas?

Well, we are usually a repeat of Thanksgiving turkey kind of family.  Christmas day is also my birthday, so we always end the night with a birthday cake.

  1. What’s your favorite part of the holiday season?

All the decorations everywhere!

  1. What does your winter break typically look like?

I love shopping after Christmas, so I spend a lot of time hitting the big end-of-year sales.

  1. Do you have a holiday song you hate? If so, which one?

Dominic the Donkey.  I hate that song…like a lot.

  1. What’s the best present you’ve ever received?

In 1983, I got a Cabbage Patch Doll.  If you ever watch any shows about the 80’s, you know what a big deal that was!  I just loved her!  A real close second would be the Barbie Dream House Santa brought me in 1979.  I played with that thing for hours and hours through the years.

  1. What’s a memory from the holidays that’s stuck with you?

It’s kind of cliché, but I loved watching my son’s face when he would rush downstairs to see what Santa brought.  I don’t think anything will ever compare to that.  I think that was when Christmas was the most magical for me.
