On Tuesday, May 17th, the SBRHS Theater Techniques class, taught by Mr. Young, put on their Spring Showcase. The students who performed in the showcase were Mackenzie Ferreira, Collin Killoran, Bethany Mello, Nicholas Reis, Kiri Setzer, Shawn Simmons, and Rachel Uon. The showcase was opened with the group number “Omigod You Guys” from the musical Legally Blonde. Following this exciting opening were several solos and duets drawn from musical theater: “Agony” from Into the Woods, “See I’m Smiling” from The Last Five Years, “Never Fall In Love With An Elf” from Elf The Musical, “In My Dreams” from Anastasia, “Maria” from West Side Story, “Marry The Man Today” from Guys and Dolls, and “She Used To Be Mine” from Waitress. The showcase was concluded with a one-act play, “The Actor’s Nightmare”, directed by Collin Killoran and Mackenzie Ferreira.

The class worked tirelessly to prepare for the showcase, which served as a final display of all of the skills the students have gained throughout the year. Their experiences have proved to be incredibly rewarding, and entertaining for both those in the audience and those on the stage. “Theater Techniques is my favorite class I have ever taken,” said senior Collin Killoran. “Not only is it incredibly enjoyable, but it has also helped me learn and grow as a performer.” The showcase’s audience was small but enthusiastic and had an overall positive reaction.
