The Worst “Case” Scenario (Varsity Volleyball)

On Tuesday the 13th, the Somerset Lady Raiders played one of their toughest matches of the season. They faced the Case Cardinals, last year’s State Finalists, in what turned out to be a quick game.  The first set was intense, but one team was bound to pull ahead. Unfortunately, that team was Case. They won the tough fought battle in extra points, by a score of 29-27.  Most people would assume that this meant the second set would be just as thrilling, if not more. However, this was not the “Case”.  The Cardinals were communicating more and working as a more unified team than the Lady Raiders. They went on to not only win the second set, but blow the Raiders out.  The final score of the second set was 25-9.  In the third set, the Somerset Berkley girls began to play better, but at this point it was too late. They fought back and forth until the Cardinals took the lead and won the final set, 25-17.  Although Somerset Berkley played well, it was not enough to beat last year’s State Finalists.
