In the first episode, Sherlock is solving mysteries all by himself. He is used to being alone and he likes it that way. People think he is a psychopath, because he loves murder mysteries. He lives and breathes them and does nothing else with his time. He does not have a life filled with family and friends. He is above average intelligence and sees little details that are ignored everyday. During murder mysteries many people think he is the culprit. Sherlock has helped many people out and they are grateful for his expertise. The police even request his help on mysteries that they can’t figure out.

Sherlock is addicted to the mysteries, because he loves danger and it gets his adrenaline going. Sherlock has to know the answers to the mysteries or it eats away at him. Later on in the episode he meets Dr. John Watson. A war veteran looking for an apartment to rent. Sherlock offers to let him rent an apartment with him. Sherlock gets recruited by the police to check out a mystery. They think people are killing themselves with poison, but it is not what it seems. Sherlock thinks someone is killing these people. Watson is recruited by Sherlock to be his assistant in these mysteries. Watson does not trust easily and is drawn in by Sherlock. Watson is also addicted to danger and the adrenaline that comes along with it. When he stands by Sherlock’s side it is like he is in battle again. When Sherlock’s brother Mycroft tries to pay him in return for spying on Sherlock he refuses to take the offer.

Sherlock and Watson go to the recent murder of a woman. Her pink suitcase is missing and Sherlock finds it. He says only the killer would have it, but Watson knows Sherlock isn’t the killer. The killer has the phone. The woman who died left a clue her daughter’s name scratched on the floor while she was dying. Sherlock uses the password to track the phone. He and Watson chase after the killer in a taxi. Sadly it didn’t pan out, because the killer could not have just gotten off an airplane. While the police,Watson, and Sherlock are at his apartment the phone’s location pops up at his apartment. His neighbor Mrs.Hudson keeps telling him there is a taxi outside waiting for him. Sherlock says he did not call for a taxi.

Spoiler Alert

Then all the pieces came together for Sherlock. The taxi driver was the killer. The killer tells Sherlock come with me if you want to find out how I got those people to kill themselves. He takes Sherlock to a remote building. After they go inside he puts two bottles of poison on the table. Choose one he says one is poison the other one isn’t. I will drink the one you choose not to drink. Sherlock says he will not play the game. Sherlock gets him to admit why he has been murdering those people. The taxi driver’s wife took his kids away. He is dying and does not have much money to leave for them. He gets money from killing the people his boss picks out. Watson figures it out and rushes over to save him. Before Sherlock drinks the vial Watson shoots the taxi driver. While he is dying Sherlock asks who hired him. He says it was your archenemy Moriarty. That is the end of the first episode.
