New Lacrosse Teams at SBRHS

Starting this year, Somerset Berkley will play lacrosse for the spring sports season. Lacrosse is a contact team sport played with a lacrosse stick and lacrosse ball. The goal of the game is to score a goal by shooting the ball into the net of the opposing team. I decided to join lacrosse this year because I found the sport fascinating and I wanted to give it a shot. I think lacrosse is a really fun sport to play and it’s a fun hobby to pick up if you’re ever bored. Every sport is challenging when you first start it, but eventually you start to get better at the skills and learn that it’s all about consistency. I love going to practice because I have amazing coaches: Coach Travis and Coach Wells. I also enjoy playing with everyone on the team and, as a sophomore, I hope to continue playing for the next two years to come.

We have both girls and boys lacrosse teams here at SBRHS. Even though it’s the same sport, boys have different lacrosse sticks and lacrosse gear. One of my senior friends Juan Carlos Da Silva wanted to share his experience with me about boys lacrosse. He started off by saying how it was a pretty good sport and how Coach S and the team had potential. He said it was a very enjoyable sport. He also said how the team lacked composure and was being a little aggressive at times, but with time we can build a pretty good team. He said it was a positive experience overall and I agree with him on that. We’re starting off this year by having a total of 10 games throughout the season and by next year we hope to double that and have 20 games. Let’s go SBRHS lacrosse!
