Maya Rezendes

Maya Rezendes is an amazing actress and singer. She has the role of Regina George from the movie “Mean Girls” and she will be acting that out in the musical this spring for SBRHS. We can’t wait to see what a great performance the cast of “Mean Girls” will present to us. Now since everyone has been casted and given their role, let’s get to know the actors a little better. This is my interview with Maya Rezendes.

Why did you decide to audition for the role of Regina George?

Regina has been on my dream role list for a long time now and I found this as a perfect opportunity to audition. This was the only time that I could really do this role since it is my last year here at SBRHS.

What is something that you are looking forward to involving the musical?

I’m just excited to see everyone’s reactions in the crowd. It’s always nice to see how the audience will react. I think a lot of people like the musicals here so watching the audience while performing is something I am looking forward to.

How many years have you been a part of the musical here at SBRHS?

I have done the musical here at SBRHS for the last 3 years. I did my first play this fall.

What do you enjoy the most about doing theater?

I like how I can express myself fully and really be able to play out a character. You can really give it your all when you’re acting and that’s something I enjoy about it.

What is a piece of advice you would give to someone who is nervous about auditioning for a role?

Don’t be nervous because Mr. Young is super nice and welcoming. You just have to put yourself out there. Being involved in anything that interests you is important and theater is a great way to start and build friendships with other people.
