According to the organization’s official website, “Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people in over 150 countries and territories who campaign to end abuses of human rights.” Though there was previously a chapter of Amnesty International at SBRHS in 2018, the chapter had been on hiatus until about a month ago when junior SBRHS student, Julia Costa, had the idea to revamp the chapter. Now led by students Julia Costa and Kylee Schecter, and advised by Mr.Correia, the SBRHS Amnesty International Chapter has been reinstated. This chapter will aim to campaign for awareness of human rights issues around the world, organizing donations and drives, and much more! While the date of first chapter meeting has not yet been announced, this information will be found on the chapter’s instagram page (@sbamnesty) when available. Amnesty International is open to any SBRHS student interested in making change in SBRHS, our community, and the world! The code for the chapter’s google classroom is: 3qfuhsx. More information on what the Amnesty International organization is can be found using the following link: https://www.amnesty.org/en/. As the chapter’s instagram eloquently describes it; “with our student led group, we will implement education, action, and participation in our school community to strengthen the message of human rights everywhere.”
