Raiders Tie the Indians at Driscoll

A tremendous crowd showed up at Driscoll Arena in Fall River Wednesday, January, 26th to see the Somerset Berkley Raiders and Dartmouth Indians play to a 3-3 tie.

The Raiders took control 10 minutes in, after a pass from Senior forward Josh Pacheco hit a Dartmouth defenseman in front of the net and trickled past their goaltender Ashton Machado.

5 minutes into the Second period, Junior forward Noah Taylor picked up a loose rebound and shot it past Machado’s left to give the Raiders a 2 goal lead.

The Raiders weren’t done yet as another goal came on the power play with Defender Matt Costa going down the ice on the left side and took a wrist shot which got past Machado with 13:22 to go.

However, Dartmouth’s comeback began on a 5-on-3 advantage with Senior Damien Medeiros tapping in the loose puck on Brandon Silva’s right to cut the lead to 2.

90 Seconds later, Senior Nick Howarth, after a save from Silva, picked up the puck and shot it between Silva’s legs to make it a 1 goal game.

Once again, still on the power play, Dartmouth got another chance in front, in which Silva came off his line and a pass from Cullen Larabee found the stick of Captain Josh Nelson to tie the game at 3-3.

In Overtime, Dartmouth had another 5-on-3 advantage after 2 Somerset Berkley penalties. Brandon Silva made 5 overtime saves, which preserved a tie for both sides.

Ashton Machado finished the game with 16 saves, while Brandon Silva finished with 37.

The tie put the Raiders’ record on the season at 7-1-1.

These 2 teams met again at Hetland Memorial Arena in New Bedford on February 1st where the raiders lost 4-3.
