How Much Spirit Did We Have This Year

This week the staff and students of SBRHS hyped up for case rally with Pajama Day as Wake-up Wednesday, Decades Day as Throwback Thursday, USA Day as Freedom Friday, Character Day as Make-Believe Monday, and finally Raider Pride day on Tuesday all leading up to Case Rally on Wednesday. Considering that we added a few new things to Spirit week here a comparison between the day’s popularity and participation.

On Pajama day we had a lot of people arrive to school in onesies or showing off their patterned pj bottoms. I think this day of spirit was an easy on for most people to achieve but there are others who just don’t really want to go to school in their sleepwear. Either way I think it was a fun and definitely comfy day for those who did participate.

On the second day of our spirit week we threw it back to various decades during Throwback Thursday. This one was pretty popular though it can often harder for people to pull off as we might not all have accessible clothing around that represents fashion from the 90s, 80s, 70s, so on and so forth. I think that Decades Day has always been a fun ¨classic¨ and it’s cool to see what people come up with.

It is no doubt that the third day, USA Day, was a huge hit. People went all out with american flags, patriots gear, and even just a simple red t-shirt, blue jeans, and white socks or shoes did the trick. That’s exactly why this day is such a success, because most people have something red white and blue and American flag apparel is pretty common. Overall, from Uncle Sam hats to stars painted on faces to American flag swimsuits over jeans,  it is clear that this day is a keeper.

On Monday we celebrated character day, which was a little less of hit than Friday. We saw the World Language Department participate by dressing up as different superheroes, which was super to see. We saw many Sullys, Mikes, and Boos from Monsters Inc., someone in a Dinosaur costume, some characters from the hit Netflix show stranger things and even some characters from the Office. Otherwise, though, this day had a lot less participation than the other days. It was clear that some people who dressed up most of the other days found it a bit harder to come up with a character that they could pull off on Monday.

As far as our Raider spirit goes I think it’s safe to say that SBRHS showed that they are ready to take on the competition united as one.
