There is no easy way to say this but November 21 at 9:06pm heaven gained another angel. Fall River’s Jenelle A. “Nelly” Eaton passed away after a long year and a half of battling Ewing’s sarcoma,  a rare bone cancer.  I think I can speak for everyone who knew Nelly personally like myself  when I say that when you hear her name or see her smile you automatically smile.

Nelly was a cheerleader and softball player at B.M.C. Durfee and a dancer at Artistic Dance studio. I met Jenelle six years ago at Artistic dance studio and I remember she could just walk into a room and brighten everyone’s day. Her smile was so bright and just the energy and passion she had while dancing was amazing.

On November 25 the people of Somerset lined up along County Street to watch Nelly’s procession. All of County Street was decorated with yellow and purple balloons and ribbons and the words “Pray For Nelly” were everywhere. Although very emotional, it was simply beautiful.

It’s amazing to watch how strong and positive she was during her battle. To go through something so serious like battling cancer and staying so strong is so inspiring to me and many others. Safe to say she is the true definition of strength and courage. She fought hard.
