With the game not even two minutes in, Chase Stafford scored off a 67 yard run. The score quickly turned to 8-0. The Spartans had possession on the 50 but the Raiders stopped all their runs, causing Stang to go for it. They made a solid pass, got the first, than proceeded to move the ball to the 4. Unfortunately, Stang answered back and scored a TD of their own, without getting the extra 2, so the score was 8-6. Shortly after the Raiders received the kick, Steven Fralick scored a touchdown, and the team got the extra two. This was bound to be a high scoring game (16-6).
To begin the second quarter, Stang went 3 and out but didn’t punt the ball so the Raiders had nearly the whole field to cover, but that was no problem for them. In just one play, the ball went to Steve and he had an 80 yard run! (22-6) With the D still strong, the Spartans were forced to punt and Somerset got the ball on the 40. Stafford had another lengthy run but it ended in a 5 yard penalty, the first in 3 games. Shortly after, Devon Urena threw a 40 yard pass for Chase to score again! The half ended and the raiders were creaming Stang 30-6.
To start the half, Chase had a hit that sounded like the crunch of cereal. It was 4th down and the Spartans caught a 40 yard pass, making it first down. Once again, Chase did something amazing and picked off the ball! Jake Rebello then fumbled and Stang got the ball with plenty of time for a comeback. Fortunately, the D was still strong, and they forced the Spartans to go for it on fourth. They didn’t get the first and the Raiders received it on the 48. The 3rd ended and that looked like the game, the fourth quarter was just a victory lap.
