Hello all, my name is Emily Almeida and I am a junior. For our civics project, my partner Miette Melanson and I are conducting a supply drive. We are collecting personal hygiene products such as shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc. for residents at Clifton Healthcare Campus in Somerset. The inspiration to do this project stemmed from Miette’s volunteer work for Hanover Hospice that she conducted at Clifton and my own personal CNA work that I do at Clifton. We noticed during this time that personal care products are an area of need for the residents.
At the facility the soap and lotions they give to the residents is generic, unscented/ very lightly scented, and universal. One of the times that residents have their own personal products that come from a real store and not Cliftons storage closet is when their family members bring in products for them. For most, this never happens. They either no longer have family to bring them the products, their family does not see the importance/ happiness that having non-generic products brings the residents, or their family is not fortunate enough to bring in these products. The other time where they gain personalized products is when they win them at activities such as bingo.
It makes the residents’ day when they get these products. We hope you will consider donating to our drive, and lifting the spirits of some of Clifton’s residents! If you want to help support our drive you can donate either in the main office or Ms. Cabral’s room (213). Any questions, comments, and or concerns can be directed to Miette Melanson ([email protected]) or Emily Almeida ([email protected]). Thank you for your time and support!
