Coach Belichick’s Letter to Donald Trump

Right before election day in America, coach Bill Belichick wrote a letter to Donald Trump. He praised Trump and wished him luck in the election and deemed him a great competitor and fighter, and even referenced his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again”. Coach Belichick even praised his leadership skills, but don’t assume that Belichick is a Trump supporter politically.

When asked about the letter, he was very clear that the writing to Trump was not politically motivated- it was friendship driven. Their friendship has gone back many years and he has respect for Donald, but the comments weren’t political. He went on to say how he was not a political person and he writes hundreds of letters a month to people, it doesn’t mean he agrees with every single thing. Furthermore, he went into detail about how he had John Kerry in the locker room, another close friend of Belichick. He stated how Trump and Kerry could not have more different political views, but they are both his friends, so the letter should not be regarded as political. He then said he just wanted to focus on the Patriots upcoming game against Seattle. Classic Belichick.
