Island

Island

Mylee Setzer, Contributor: Literary Magazine

I live on a small island in the middle of the ocean.

Alone,

most of the time.

Little island of

solitude.

Sometimes people come in boats.

They anchor their boats at the shores of the island and step ashore.

Some stay longer than others.

They all leave eventually.

After all, what more is there to do when you’ve explored every inch of the island?

Seen every tree and stone?

Nothing I do will help.

And once again, I am

alone

and maybe this is how I was meant to be.
